Environmentally friendly plants
It explained that its efforts in the field of afforestation contributed to planting more than 6.7 million wild trees of targeted origin. It will reach 10 million trees by 2030, distributed over more than 150 sites in various regions of the Kingdom, using more than 25 types of local plants suitable for different natural environments. She added that she is preparing to expand her contribution to national environmental initiatives by planting 15 million mangrove trees on the eastern and western coasts of the Kingdom by 2030, in addition to implementing programs to measure carbon absorption rates using advanced sensor technologies. Water Resources: The company indicated that it treated more than 966.95 million cubic meters of wastewater, and recorded an 8% increase in the amounts of treated water, while the utilization rate reached 21.8% in strategic sectors that included irrigation, industry, mining, energy, and oil and gas extraction.
Specifications and Standards
It indicated that its laboratories conducted 237,151 microbial and chemical tests; To ensure that treated water conforms to approved specifications and standards, thus enhancing the reliability of its use in various applications.
Within the framework of enhancing environmental compliance, the company explained that 30 operational sites, including 29 wastewater treatment plants, obtained the ISO 14001 environmental management certificate. It also supported the environmental control system by qualifying 60 internal auditors and 12 main auditors, implementing 6 specialized workshops, in addition to issuing 137 environmental permits for its projects and facilities. Operational.
In the path of the circular economy, the company dealt with 34 thousand tons of non-hazardous waste and 29 thousand tons of solid hazardous waste. It also licensed the first integrated engineering landfill in Jeddah, and launched projects to produce bioenergy from sludge through anaerobic digesters at the Ajyal and Hit plants, which contributes to reducing carbon emissions and maximizing the use of operational waste.
International Achievements
She indicated that Buraidah Environmental Oasis has achieved international achievements by entering the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest man-made oasis, obtaining the first internationally approved water footprint, and the first approved carbon footprint in the Middle East and Europe, in addition to its support for biodiversity through the release of 15 elk as part of programs to resettle fungal organisms.
The National Water Company confirmed that these indicators reflect the growing role it plays in achieving a balance between operational growth And preserving the environment, by adopting innovative and sustainable solutions that contribute to protecting natural resources, enhancing the quality of life, and supporting economic development in the Kingdom.
