prize "Shams for Arabic content" Participation is open for its 3rd session

Sharjah, July 2, 2017 (WAM) – Sharjah Media City “Shams” announced the opening of registration for the third session of the “Shams Award for Arabic Content” for creators, content makers and media professionals in the Arab world, as part of its ongoing efforts to support Arab talent and enhance the quality of Arabic content and media creativity on various platforms.

The award comes as part of the specific initiatives launched by “Shams” with the aim of celebrating creators and providing a competitive platform that keeps pace with the rapid developments in the content industry and artistic production and contributes to supporting young Arab energies and enabling them to reach regional and global levels of professionalism.

Rashid Abdullah Al-Obed, Director General of Sharjah Media City (Shams), said that this step comes in line with the award’s vision of keeping pace with the rapid transformations in the digital media and content industry sector and enhancing the award’s comprehensiveness for various forms of creativity. The Shams Award for Arabic Content continues to consolidate its position as a supportive platform for creators and content makers in the Arab world based on the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, in supporting culture, creativity and empowering competencies. Through this session, we seek to keep pace with the rapid transformations in digital media and artistic production, and the introduction of the new categories reflects this trend and embodies our keenness to diversify the award’s fields in a way that meets developments in the content industry and the needs of the Arab public.

He added: “At Shams, we believe that Arabic content has great potential to compete globally. Therefore, we are keen to provide an environment that celebrates creativity and gives creators a real opportunity to showcase their work according to the highest professional and artistic standards.”

The award created three new categories in its 2026 session, including Best Series Screenwriter, Best Soundtrack for a Series or Movie, Best Creative Advertisement, Best Short Film, Best Artificial Intelligence Video, Best Content Creator, and Best Podcast, in addition to the Best Actor 2026 and Best Actress 2026 awards, which reflects the diversity of the target groups between dramatic production, content creation, digital creativity, and artistic performance, and keeping pace with the latest developments in the Arab media sector.

Starting today, participation can be made via the electronic platform designated for the award via the link www.shamsaward.ae, provided that the application period closes on October 1, 2026.

The evaluation process depends on a set of precise criteria that include the quality of the idea, innovation, cultural and social impact, artistic and technical excellence, in addition to commitment to the positive values ​​of Arabic content.

Specialized jury committees that include an elite group of experts and creators in the fields of media and artistic production review the entries and select the winning works according to the highest professional standards.
