"Sharjah libraries" It organizes cultural and social events to celebrate the Year of the Family

Sharjah, July 3, 2020 – Sharjah Public Libraries is organizing 22 cultural and community events during the current July to celebrate the “Year of the Family 2026” in its various libraries and cities in the Emirate of Sharjah, with the aim of enhancing the role of the family in building society through reading, knowledge, science, arts and heritage.
The Sharjah Libraries Program for July is distributed among the libraries of Sharjah, Al Dhaid, Khor Fakkan, Kalba, Dibba Al Hisn, and Wadi Al Hilo, in addition to a number of destinations, emphasizing the role of libraries as community spaces that bring family members together around knowledge through interactive activities that allow participants to learn, experience, and express their ideas with the participation of a number of cultural, community, and sports entities.
On July 7, Al Dhaid Public Library will organize the “Words that Create My Future” event to explore the impact of words in shaping thinking and decision-making, and the “Science that Protects Our Planet” workshop at the Wadi Al Helu Library to inform children about the role of science and technology in protecting the environment and encourage them to think about innovative solutions to environmental challenges.
On July 9, the Sharjah Library will host a book signing event for the book “Bride of Al-Bateen” by Hind Rashid Al-Balushi, and in the Dibba Al-Hisn Library, the program will hold a session “The Internet and the Grandmother’s Story” to highlight the importance of benefiting from technology while preserving heritage and family ties.
On July 12, Al Dhaid Public Library is organizing the “The Library is Vibrant” event, and the Khor Fakkan Public Library, in cooperation with the “Step by Step” Center, is organizing the “My Family Painting” event.
On July 13, the Wadi Al-Hilu Library will hold an outdoor event for children entitled “Our Heritage Tells the Story,” as part of the “Year of the Family 2026” activities. It includes sections for folk tales, Emirati decorations, and the preparation of some traditional foods, with the aim of introducing children and young people to local customs.
As part of celebrating the Year of the Family, Kalba Public Library presents the “Family, the Heart of Knowledge” program on July 14 at the Rubu’ Qarn Foundation, in addition to the “The Secret of Einstein’s Genius” workshop to develop curiosity, creative thinking, and teamwork at the Sharjah Library.
On July 15, the Khor Fakkan Public Library organizes a heritage event entitled “Their Memory Podcast” with the participation of the researcher in heritage and Islamic history, Amna Saber Al-Dhanhani, and in cooperation with the Heritage House in Khor Fakkan, to introduce methods for making books, ink, and writing tools used in the past. On the same day, the Sharjah Library presents an outdoor event for the general public entitled “Bridges of Communication,” which includes group games, cooperative challenges, and artistic workshops that enhance the values of friendship, empathy, and joint work.
On July 16, the Khorfakkan Public Library will host the writer Zahra Khaled Al-Naqbi in the “From the Story to the Kitchen” event, and the Wadi Al-Hilu Library will organize a session “Because We Deserve Reassurance” to discuss the book “The Support Box” by the writer Rabab Al-Tahiri and the ideas it presents about confronting fear and internal conflicts related to the virtual world.
On July 19, the “Chessboard Champion” workshop will be held at Sharjah Library to celebrate World Chess Day. It includes friendly matches and mental challenges that help young people develop strategic thinking, focus, problem solving and decision-making. Dibba Al Hisn Library is also organizing a family event entitled “Rhythm and Fractions” that links the concepts of fractions and musical rhythm through the use of percussion instruments and movement activities.
On July 20, Al Dhaid Public Library is organizing an outdoor event entitled “Smart Moves Challenge,” during which it combines motor games and mental challenges to develop concentration, logical thinking, and quick wits.
The “When Evidence Speaks” event will be held on July 21, organized by the Khorfakkan Public Library in cooperation with the Evidence and Forensic Laboratories Department of Sharjah Police, taking participants in an interactive experience to learn about the basics of criminal investigation, collecting evidence, and analyzing fingerprints and vital evidence.
Visual artist Mirna Hatoum will present at the Kalba Public Library a “Painting Behind the Canvas” workshop on July 26 that allows children to experience using fabric to build artwork. The Wadi Al-Hilu Library is also presenting in English an art workshop entitled “Sustainable Rocks” to transform rocks into sustainable works of art that will be displayed in the front of the library as part of a group exhibition.
Dibba Al-Hisn Library is organizing the “Your Food, Your Energy” event on July 28 to introduce young people to the basics of balanced nutrition, distinguish between healthy and unhealthy foods, and train them on designing a complete healthy dish. On July 30, the Kalba Public Library will host a session on the book “Faster Than Light” to review the human journey from distraction to clarity and the role of awareness in reconsidering reality and making decisions.
On July 1, the Kalba Public Library opened the youth program with the “Fist of Darkness” event, in cooperation with the Fujairah Martial Arts Club and the Kalba Youth Center. The event introduces participants to the basics of martial arts through an experience inspired by the world of Kung Fu, focusing on discipline, self-confidence, controlling fear, and using force in a positive manner.
