The first person infected with Ebola virus recovered in France

The French Minister of Health, Stephanie Rest, announced that the first patient infected with the Ebola virus on French soil has recovered and left the hospital after receiving the necessary medical care.

The Minister explained, in a statement, that the patient, a doctor working in the humanitarian field, returned to France on June 23, coming from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which is witnessing a widespread outbreak of the virus, where he underwent careful medical follow-up, and did not show severe symptoms, which allowed him to be discharged from the hospital and return to his home.

The Democratic Republic of the Congo continues to face a new wave of the Ebola outbreak since May 15, while the latest government data showed that the disease has claimed the lives of 438 people out of 1,502 confirmed cases.
