Cancellation of the institutional license and program accreditation of Horizon University College

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced the cancellation of the institutional license and program accreditation of Horizon University College, based in the Emirate of Ajman, after proving a serious and continuing violation of the institutional licensing requirements and program accreditation controls, and the repetition of administrative violations that require cancellation of the license in accordance with the approved regulatory frameworks, and proving that the college’s continuation of its activity affects the rights of students, the quality of the educational process, the reliability of academic outcomes, and institutional sustainability.

The decision results in prohibiting the college from practicing any activity in the field of higher education, and canceling the program accreditation for all its academic programs, including stopping offering, teaching, or announcing academic programs, accepting new students, granting academic qualifications, or issuing transcripts, in accordance with the applicable regulatory procedures, while continuing to implement the necessary measures to protect the rights of students and ensure the continuity of their educational journey.

The Ministry affirmed that the interest of students and the continuity of their studies is a top priority, and that it will continue, in coordination with local and relevant authorities, to take all necessary measures to ensure their transfer, distribution, and completion of their studies in licensed and accredited higher education institutions, in a way that preserves their academic rights and ensures that their educational journey is not affected.

In this context, the Ministry formed a joint work team headed by a representative of it and with the membership of representatives of the college and relevant authorities, with the aim of supervising the implementation of the approved plan for the continuity of the academic process and the protection of students, in a way that ensures the implementation of procedures for transferring students to licensed higher education institutions, and coordination with the relevant authorities to ensure the continuity of the academic process and the completion of all procedures related to students’ rights.

The Ministry affirmed its continued strengthening of the supervisory and regulatory system, in cooperation with the relevant local and federal authorities, to ensure that higher education institutions adhere to approved national standards, maintain the quality of the educational process, protect the interests of students, and enhance the competitiveness and reliability of the higher education system in the UAE.

The Ministry called on the college students and their parents to follow the developments and instructions issued through the Ministry’s official channels, stressing its keenness to keep them informed of the procedures related to their transfer and completion of their studies, in a way that ensures the clarity of the procedures and the smooth implementation of them.
