المملكة: A unified platform and mandatory dust management plan for monitoring construction projects in Riyadh

Reveal National Control Center at Environmental Commitment, in cooperation with the Royal Commission for the City of Riyadh, launched a unified platform to monitor dust resulting from construction projects, in a step aimed at strengthening environmental control, raising the efficiency of monitoring air quality, and reducing the environmental impacts of construction projects, thus contributing to improving the quality of life.

The platform relies on automatic linking of data from air quality measuring devices, allowing real-time tracking of concentration levels of suspended particles (PM10), and issuing alerts when permissible limits are exceeded, which supports the speed of taking the necessary measures to reduce From the spread of dust and reducing its impact on the surrounding environment.

Dust from construction activities

The Center confirmed that dust control and control procedures require preparing a plan to manage dust caused by Construction Activities (DMP) before starting site preparation work, provided that it covers a period of no less than 30 calendar days, and includes identifying potential dust sources, procedures to reduce them, and monitoring and follow-up systems, with the necessity of obtaining official approval of the plan before embarking on any activity that may result in dust.

He explained that these procedures aim to reduce the impact of construction work on air quality, and enhance the projects’ commitment to environmental requirements, which contributes to protecting the surrounding environment. And maintaining public health.

The launch of the platform and the implementation of the dust management plan come within the framework of enhancing integration between the National Center for Oversight of Environmental Compliance and the Royal Commission for the City of Riyadh, through unifying monitoring and follow-up efforts, and benefiting from modern technologies in monitoring environmental indicators, and raising the level of environmental compliance in construction projects.
