"Ports, customs and free zone" and"DB World" They promote the development of Emirati competencies through "support"

Dubai, 7 July / WAM / The Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation and DP World Group celebrated the graduation of 10 Emirati cadres from the “Sanad” programme, which aims to develop the next generation of Emirati specialists in the security field, and prepare them to work within international operational, regulatory, maritime and security environments.

The program was implemented in cooperation with a number of leading national and academic institutions, including the Sharjah Maritime Transport Academy, Dubai Police, and Dubai Customs, whose expertise and specialized knowledge contributed to providing an integrated and comprehensive training experience for the participants.

The graduating class included five employees from the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation and five employees from DB World. All participants successfully fulfilled the program requirements, achieving a 100% completion rate, and demonstrated a high level of commitment and dedication throughout the training and professional development journey that lasted 18 months.

His Excellency Abdullah bin Damithan, Chairman of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, said: Preparing Emirati competencies to protect the country’s vital infrastructure represents a strategic priority, and the “Sanad” program embodies an important investment in developing specialized national capabilities that contribute to enhancing the flexibility, security and continuity of the ports, trade and logistics system in the UAE.

He added: Today we celebrate the achievements of these Emirati competencies who demonstrated discipline, professionalism and the ability to adapt throughout the program, and were able to successfully complete its intensive requirements. Their dedication also reflects the importance of developing specialized national capabilities that support the continued flexibility of the ports, trade and logistics sectors.

He said: We at the Foundation continue our commitment to working alongside our partners in government agencies, business sectors and academic institutions, with the aim of developing specialized national competencies, strengthening our security system, and supporting the UAE’s long-term ambitions to maintain its position as a reliable global center for trade, logistics and maritime services.

His Excellency Issa Kazim, Chairman of the Board of Directors of DP World Group, said: Our partnership in the Sanad program reflects the importance of integrating the efforts of national institutions, academic and security bodies to prepare Emirati cadres who possess a comprehensive understanding of the nature of work in ports, terminals and logistics services. We believe that empowering national competencies through specialized knowledge and practical experience represents a long-term investment in the future of the ports, trade and logistics sectors. Sanad program graduates represent a new generation of highly qualified talent.

The “Sanad” program extended over a period of 18 months, and combined theoretical learning, practical training, and international case studies in the fields of maritime security, port and terminal security, operational and regulatory environments, crisis and risk management, and international best practices for protecting infrastructure and vital facilities.

Participants obtained four internationally recognized certificates: Maritime Security Awareness Certificate, Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO), Personal Survival Techniques, and Fire Prevention and Control.

The program also provided participants with the opportunity to have direct field insight into the operations of ports and marine stations. The participants also completed an educational visit to Khor Fakkan, and a specialized training program at the Dubai Police Academy, which provided them with valuable practical and educational experiences that contributed to enhancing discipline, self-confidence and teamwork.

The “Sanad” program embodies a successful model of cooperation between government agencies, the business sector and academic institutions, with the aim of developing highly qualified Emirati competencies capable of supporting the security, flexibility and sustainability of the growth of the ports, maritime and logistics sectors in the UAE.
