The start of a third round of strikes against Iran in response to the targeting of a ship in the Strait of Hormuz

US Central Command announced that it began carrying out a third round of strikes this week against Iran, stressing that this step comes in direct response to an attack carried out by the Revolutionary Guard on a container ship flying the Cyprus flag while it was crossing the Strait of Hormuz.

The command explained that the ongoing military operations focus on specific targets. The US strikes in Iran included air surveillance radars and sites designated for storing missiles.

Regarding the details of the Iranian attack on the commercial ship, Central Command reported the loss of a civilian crew member, noting that the targeted ship was unable to continue its journey as a result of a fire on board and that it was exposed to severe damage to the engine room.

On the political level and previous agreements, the leadership sent a firm message to Tehran, saying: “We gave Iran a new opportunity to prove its commitment to the memorandum of understanding, but it failed again.”
