Announcing 154 nominations for the Arab Media Excellence Awards to select the winners


Cairo, July 12, 2016 (WAM) – The jury for the Arab Media Excellence Award discussed the nominations submitted to select the winning works in its tenth session, during its second meeting at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, which witnessed the announcement that the Technical Secretariat had received 154 nominations, the largest number recorded since the launch of the award in 2016.
The meeting was held under the title “Arab Media and Artificial Intelligence: Opportunities and Challenges,” in implementation of the recommendations of the Council of Arab Information Ministers, in the presence of the Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Media and Communication Sector, Ambassador Ahmed Rashid Khattabi, and the Chairman of the Arab Media Excellence Award Committee, Mr. Talal Al-Haifi, along with members of the jury.
Ambassador Ahmed Rashid Khattabi stressed that this session reflects the Arab countries’ interest in developing the media system, keeping pace with digital transformations, and benefiting from artificial intelligence applications to improve professional performance and develop content, praising at the same time the State of Kuwait’s sponsorship of the award and the efforts of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Information in its continuous support.
The Assistant Secretary-General explained that the nominations were divided into 62 works for digital media, 41 for print media, 36 for radio works, and 15 for television works, stressing the jury’s commitment to selecting the winning works according to strict criteria based on professionalism, objectivity, impartiality and transparency.
