"Ports and customs" It adopts an integrated system to support business continuity and enhance trade and logistics services in Dubai
DUBAI, July 13, 2017 (WAM) – The Dubai Ports Authority, affiliated with the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, held a high-level coordination meeting with representatives of shipping companies, shipping agents, and consolidation shipment operators, along with a number of strategic partners, with the aim of discussing current operational developments, and reviewing mechanisms for enhancing the efficiency of container movement and the flow of goods through ports.
The meeting was chaired by Captain Ibrahim Al Balushi, Executive Director of the Dubai Ports Authority, at the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, at the Corporation’s headquarters in Port Rashid in Dubai, where he pointed to the proactive approach followed by the Corporation to ensure operational readiness, enhance direct coordination with all concerned parties, and accelerate the response to any variables that may affect the efficiency of maritime and logistical operations.
The meeting formed a practical platform for exchanging operational data and notes, reviewing approved procedures, identifying common priorities, in addition to discussing solutions that would support the smooth movement of containers, raise the efficiency of handling operations, and enhance the continuity of supply chains.
He also discussed ways to enhance integration between shipping companies, agents, operators and regulatory bodies, ensuring rapid response to changes and reducing any potential impacts on trade movement.
Al Balushi stressed that the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation is continuously monitoring operational developments, in coordination with partners and concerned authorities, to ensure that the necessary measures are taken in a timely manner, and to maintain the efficiency and continuity of operations.
He said: We work closely and continuously with all partners in the maritime and logistics sector to evaluate operational developments and develop practical solutions that enhance the efficiency of container movement, support the flexibility of supply chains, and ensure the continuity of the flow of goods according to the highest levels of efficiency and readiness.
He added: Our approach is based on direct coordination, speed of response, and exchange of operational information, which contributes to addressing challenges efficiently and enhancing the sector’s ability to continue its operations smoothly in various circumstances.
Al Balushi stated that coordination meetings with partners will continue periodically, within an integrated system to follow up on performance indicators and operational developments, assess needs, and implement solutions that support business continuity and enhance the efficiency of the trade and logistics system in Dubai.
