"Sharjah culture" Organizes the Fifth Chad Forum for Arabic Poetry


N’Djamena – Chad On July 13, 2017, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, the Arab Poetry Forums in Africa began their new edition, as the Republic of Chad hosted the activities of the fifth session of the Arab Poetry Forum in the capital, N’Djamena, which was organized by the Department of Cultural Affairs at the Department of Culture in Sharjah in cooperation with the Literary Club in Chad, over two days, with the participation of 50 male and female poets from all over the world. The country.
The Arab poetry forums in Africa come in implementation of the directives of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, calling for supporting the Arabic language and enhancing the presence of Arabic poetry in Africa, as they are a raiser of awareness, a bridge of communication, and a platform for highlighting poetic talents in various parts of the continent, within a comprehensive vision that advances Arab culture and dedicates its role in building humanity.
The opening ceremony, which was held yesterday, witnessed the presence of the Minister Delegate to the Ministry of Economy, Planning and International Cooperation, Dr. Saleh Barmah, and Abdullah Suleiman, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Handicrafts, representing the Minister of Culture, former Minister and Advisor to the President of the Republic, Dr. Hussein Masar Hussein, the head of the Youth Corner Program, Hassan Muhammad Abkar, members of the Scientific Committee, a number of directors, university professors, heads of civil institutions and associations, and a large group of lovers of the Arabic language and literature.
His Excellency Dr. Saleh Barmah expressed his deep appreciation for the United Arab Emirates, praising its pioneering role in supporting Arab culture, praising in particular the blessed efforts led by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, in sponsoring Arabic literature and language, encouraging creative and talented people, and supporting cultural initiatives that contributed to revitalizing the literary movement in the Republic of Chad.
He stressed that literature in Chad is witnessing remarkable development, as it has moved to a more complete stage in terms of artistic characteristics and literary styles, and the classical Arabic language has become more present in literary production, and the circle of poets and creators has expanded, reflecting the cultural renaissance that the country is witnessing.
Barma called on those in charge of the Arab Poetry Forum in Chad to continue their mission of discovering talent, embracing creators, and nurturing creative young people, in a way that contributes to preparing a new generation that carries the banner of literature and culture, and continues the path of creativity in the service of the Arabic language and the nation.
For his part, Abdullah Suleiman praised the cultural role played by Sharjah in serving the Arabic language and literature, praising the continuous efforts made by His Highness the Sheikh, Ruler of Sharjah, in nurturing Arab culture and supporting creative people.
He stressed that the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Handicrafts in the Republic of Chad places support for culture and literature at the core of its priorities, in line with the state’s vision aimed at nurturing thought and creativity, noting that the Ministry will remain a partner and supporter of all serious cultural initiatives.
He praised the close cooperation between the Ministry and the Sharjah Department of Culture in organizing this literary event, stressing that such forums allow poets and writers to live days with words and creativity, and contribute to discovering talents and nurturing geniuses, thus enhancing the status of literature and the Arabic language in Chad.
For his part, Professor Al-Qassim Mahmoud Zakaria, member of the Scientific Committee of the Forum, praised the pioneering role played by Sharjah, and the continuous support given by His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, to serve the Arabic language, nurture literature, and embrace poets and creators, stressing that these efforts contributed to the prosperity of the cultural movement in Chad, and made the Arab Poetry Forum a pioneering literary platform.
He explained that the Scientific Committee received more than seventy poets and more than one hundred poems this year, and all entries were studied and evaluated according to scientific and artistic standards, so that what was consistent with the forum’s goals and its cultural message was selected.
He added that the committee approved the participation of more than forty-seven poets in this edition, based on the firm conviction that the forum is a literary space that brings together various poetic experiences and gives the creative word its right to appear.
He pointed out the committee’s keenness this year to open the way for young talents and new creators, believing in the importance of embracing promising energies, and giving them the opportunity to stand alongside poets with a cultural imprint, in line with the forum’s message of discovering talents, encouraging creativity, and creating a new generation of poets who carry the banner of Arabic literature in Chad.
The forum sessions witnessed the participation of poets who presented poetic texts whose topics varied between patriotism, identity, humanity, and cultural values, in an image that reflected the richness of the Chadian poetic experience, the vitality of the literary movement, and the ability of Arabic poetry to build bridges of communication and convergence between peoples.
