"Swap bio" Launches the first locally manufactured dialysis solutions in the UAE

ABU DHABI, 13 JULY / WAM / Mubadala Bio, the national company specialized in pharmaceutical manufacturing, launched the first locally manufactured dialysis solutions in the UAE, through its “Wilpharma” manufacturing facility in Abu Dhabi, in a qualitative step that enhances national pharmaceutical security and consolidates local manufacturing capabilities in the production of vital treatments.

The launch includes eight dialysis solutions for use in hospitals, with the aim of supporting the care of patients with kidney failure. The solutions are an essential element in dialysis sessions, as they contribute to maintaining the balance of vital elements in the body, and help remove wastes and toxins from the blood of patients whose kidneys have lost the ability to perform their vital functions.

Dr. Bakhit Al Kathiri, CEO of the UAE Investment Sector, affiliated with Mubadala Investment Company, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mubadala Bio, explained that producing dialysis solutions locally represents an important milestone in this journey, given the great importance that the products represent in supporting the health care system and providing basic treatments to patients, stressing the continued commitment to supporting the development of strategic health capabilities and enhancing access to basic treatments.

Dr. Essam Mohamed, CEO of Mubadala Bio, confirmed that the launch of the new dialysis solutions, which are manufactured locally in the UAE, ensures the provision of more stable and continuous supplies for patients who depend on dialysis sessions, in addition to enhancing the company’s capabilities in producing basic and specialized treatments used in hospitals.

Hamad Al Marzouqi, Executive Vice President of Mubadala Bio, said that developing local manufacturing capabilities constitutes an essential pillar to support the ambitions of Abu Dhabi and the UAE to consolidate their position as a leading regional center for pharmaceutical industries. He pointed out that building a sector capable of competing globally requires possessing advanced national capabilities covering the various stages of the pharmaceutical value chain, and launching solutions designated for dialysis are among the important steps to achieve this goal.
