"Dubai Multi Commodities" Achieves a record high in diamond trade through Dubai, worth $41.7 billion in 2025

DUBAI, 13 JULY / WAM / The Dubai Multi Commodities Centre, the leading international business district and a prominent contributor to stimulating the flow of global trade through Dubai, announced that diamond trade in the emirate reached an unprecedented record level during the year 2025, with a value of 41.7 billion US dollars, according to Dubai Customs data.

Dubai thus exceeded the previous record of US$40.9 billion recorded in 2011, while the volume of diamond trade reached 359.5 million carats, achieving an annual growth of 42.5%. Thus, for the first time, Dubai records a double record in the value and volume of diamond trade within one year.

The total value of diamond trade across all categories increased by 16.2% year-on-year, reaching US$41.7 billion in 2025, compared to US$35.8 billion in 2024, an increase of US$5.8 billion in one year. Other categories also recorded record performance, with the value of colored gemstone trade reaching US$1.1 billion in 2025, achieving annual growth. A remarkable rate of 48%.

The results confirm the continued strong momentum witnessed by the diamond sector in Dubai in the long term. Since 2020, the value of diamond trade through Dubai has increased by 139%, while its actual size has doubled by 100%, which reflects the growing role of the emirate as the preferred gateway linking producing countries, manufacturing centers, and consumption markets within the global value chain of the diamond industry.

Ahmed Bin Sulayem, CEO and CEO of DMCC, said: The latest results of diamond trade in Dubai reflect the success of a long-term strategy aimed at building the most interconnected, transparent and efficient gemstone ecosystem in the world. Since the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, the volume of diamond trade through Dubai has doubled in quantity, while its value has increased by nearly 140%. As for the value of trade in polished natural diamonds alone, it has grown by 246%, and Dubai has today become the preferred partner for producers. With our world-class infrastructure, clear regulatory environment, access to financing, and one of the most advanced gem ecosystems in the world, we will continue to provide the platform the sector needs to grow.

This record performance was mainly driven by the continued strong momentum of natural diamond trade, which recorded a value of 39.9 billion US dollars during the year 2025, accounting for 95.8% of the total value of diamond trade.

Natural rough diamond trade witnessed a remarkable performance, as 205.2 million carats were traded during the year, which is the second highest volume ever recorded, and an increase of approximately 34% compared to 2024.

As for the trade in polished natural diamonds, its value reached 18.7 billion US dollars during the year 2025, an increase of approximately 25% on an annual basis.

Since 2020, the value of trade in polished natural diamonds through Dubai has increased by 246%, while the average value per carat has increased eight to nine times.

Despite the expansion witnessed in the trade in gemstones and other diamond categories in recent years, natural diamonds still constitute the basic economic pillar of the diamond market in Dubai and its main engine for future growth.

These results also reinforce the long-term transformation that the global diamond sector is witnessing, as the value of diamond trade through Dubai has increased by 63%, while its actual volume has increased by 44% over the past decade.

These results also highlight the breadth and diversity of the diamond and gemstone trade system in Dubai, beyond the record performance of traditional diamond trade. The trade in colored gemstones recorded its highest levels ever, supported by an increase in imports by 68.8% and a growth in re-exports by 33.5%. In parallel, the categories of synthetic diamonds and laboratory-grown diamonds continue to consolidate their presence within the trade structure, as they now together represent about 39%. Of the total diamond trade volume in terms of carats.

Thanks to an integrated system that combines secure logistics services, customs clearance facilities, financial services, grading services, technology and specialized infrastructure, the Dubai Diamond Exchange continues to strengthen Dubai’s position as the leading global center for diamond trading.
