Washington is “in the process of controlling” the Strait of Hormuz

US President Donald Trump said on Monday that the United States is “in the process of controlling” the Strait of Hormuz, in light of the most violent escalation between Iran and the United States since the ceasefire was announced on April 8, which threatens the collapse of the memorandum of understanding between them.
Trump said in an interview with Fox News, “We are in the process of controlling the Strait. They have nothing. They have nothing,” criticizing at the same time the tactics of Iranian negotiators who are seeking to make changes to what was agreed upon during hours of talks yesterday.
The mutual escalation in recent days has put the fate of the memorandum of understanding that the two sides signed in mid-June into question.
The US Central Command (Centcom) announced that its forces launched on Sunday night “more strikes against Iran to continue to undermine its ability to attack civilian sailors and commercial ships that freely cross the Strait of Hormuz.”
