With the participation of 2,000 players.. “Abu Dhabi Grand Slam” of Jiu-Jitsu concludes the Rio de Janeiro leg and heads to Moscow

The Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu Championship, which was sponsored by the EDGE Group, concluded in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro after two days of competition. It witnessed the participation of more than 2,000 male and female players from 31 countries, including 500 black belt holders.

The tournament witnessed strong competition in various age groups and belts, amidst a remarkable audience presence, especially families and parents who were keen to support the players, in a scene that reflects the widespread popularity of the tournament in Brazil, and the increasing demand for participation in the rounds of the Abu Dhabi Professional Jiu-Jitsu Association.

Director General of the Abu Dhabi Professional Jiu-Jitsu Association, Tariq Al-Bahri, confirmed that the Rio de Janeiro station continued to enhance the global standing of the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Championship, noting that the large turnout from players, academies and fans reflects the confidence that the tournament has gained over years of work and development.

He said: “The Rio de Janeiro station presented distinguished technical levels that reflected the great development witnessed by the sport of jiu-jitsu around the world. We also witnessed a remarkable public presence and wide participation from various countries, which confirms the success of the association’s vision in providing a professional platform that brings together elite players and supports the spread of the game at the international level. We thank the EDGE Group for its continued support, and to all our partners who contributed to the success of this station.”

He added: “We continue to work on presenting an exceptional season, and we look forward to welcoming the players at the next stop in Moscow, which will enhance the tournament’s progress and give athletes new opportunities to compete at the highest levels.”

The Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu Championship tour continues with its next stop in the Russian capital, Moscow, which will host the third round of the season on August 29 and 30 at the Dynamo Sports Academy, before the tournament continues its journey through its global stations during the 2026-2027 season, as part of the efforts of the Abu Dhabi Professional Jiu-Jitsu Association to consolidate Abu Dhabi’s position as a global capital of Jiu-Jitsu, and enhance its spread throughout the world.
