Documenting a Saudi medical achievement in an international journal specialized in the Prince Sultan Heart Center in Al-Ahsa

A Saudi medical team from the Prince Sultan Center for the Treatment of Cardiac Diseases and Surgery in Al-Ahsa, one of the components of the Al-Ahsa Health Cluster, documented a medical achievement for a rare condition by publishing the mechanism for dealing with it in the prestigious international scientific journal “Annals of Thoracic Surgery”, to be registered as an international medical reference, and added to the record of distinguished achievements of the Prince Sultan Center for the Treatment of Cardiac Diseases and Surgery.
This international documentation confirms the accuracy of surgical treatment by Saudi health personnel, the accuracy of diagnosis and implementation at the Prince Sultan Center for the Treatment of Heart Diseases and Surgery in Al-Ahsa, and the ability of Saudi doctors to deal with rare and complex medical cases within the systems and paths of the Saudi health care model.
Medical landscape: rare and serious complications
Al-Ahsa Health Council explained that the medical team faced a major challenge in the case of a woman who was suffering from a severe infection that affected the heart valves and tissues, represented by severe inflammation that affected the aortic valve, before it extended to the heart tissue and reached the mitral valve. The complications did not stop there, as the effects of the inflammation extended throughout the blood circulation, affecting the right carotid artery and the right femoral artery, which posed a direct threat to the patient’s life.
Surgical intervention and recovery
Thanks to God, and then the efficiency and skill of the surgical team, a precise operation was performed to control the inflammation spots and repair the damaged valves. The operation was crowned with success, as the patient’s health condition stabilized after three days in intensive care, and she left the Prince Sultan Center for Cardiac Surgery and Diseases and is in good health without any complications recorded.
