“Mbappé answers frankly.” Why did France lose to Spain with a shocking performance?

France captain Kylian Mbappe confirmed that the team did not perform well in the 2-0 loss to Spain in the World Cup semi-final, on Tuesday evening.
Mbappe said on French channel M6 after the match: “We did not perform as required, whether technically, tactically, or in general, and when you do not perform well in the semi-finals of the World Cup, you cannot win.”
The Spanish Real Madrid star added: “The Spanish national team adhered to its famous game plan. They are a team that likes to impose its rhythm through possession, while we planned to put pressure on them in their own half to break their rhythm, but we did not succeed in that. Rather, we committed many technical errors, and we were not able to pose a threat to them when we needed to.”
The Roosters captain continued: “We let them control the rhythm of the match, and we failed to adjust the balance, and with the high pressure at the beginning of the match, we always found ourselves three players against two in the midfield, and this is difficult against Spain.”
He pointed out: “Fabian Ruiz and Rodri played with great comfort. We lacked team communication in pressing, and we had to exploit individual abilities and force them to run, as they are a team that does not like to run without the ball.”
He continued: “And when we got the ball back from them, we were not technically distinguished in the first passes and the first touch to the extent that it would be a match in the World Cup semi-final. All of these reasons were behind the loss.”
Mbappe stressed: “I am very disappointed, like any citizen and fan of France, because reaching the World Cup final was our dream, and a new opportunity to make history. It is a great disappointment that cannot be described in words.”
He concluded his statements: “We must rise again. We will take a vacation and look forward, because football does not wait for anyone. Rather, other engagements with our clubs and the national team await us.”
