“Say whatever you want, we are the best.” Messi responds to accusations that FIFA is biased towards Argentina

After a wave of controversy and accusations that the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) was biased towards Argentina, Lionel Messi broke his silence to respond to the critics, following his country’s victory over the Three Lions by two goals to one, and their qualification for the 2026 World Cup final.

Messi said in media statements after the end of the match: “What we have achieved is incredible. We have reached another final, and we are back to defend the world champions title. We are the best team in the world over the last four years, whether some people like it or not, and regardless of what they say.”

He added: “Once again, we are among the two best teams in the world, and this proves that what we have achieved is not a coincidence. No one gave us anything on the field. Reaching the World Cup final twice in a row is a rare achievement, and this team was able to achieve it.”

He continued, saying: “If we lost to England in the match, there would be people who would say ridiculous things, but we did not give them this opportunity.”

The Argentine player stressed that “Tango” did not receive any preferential treatment or arbitration decisions that were in his favor during his journey towards reaching the World Cup final for the second time in a row.

While Messi expressed his happiness that he and the team were able to give the people of their country this joy, he said: “I am very proud and happy about our ability to give our Argentine people a new joy. It was a very special match, and none of us wanted to lose it,” indicating that they were confident of their ability to beat England in the semi-final match.
