This set never ceases to surprise me with its steely character

“This group never ceases to surprise me,” Argentine national football team coach Lionel Scaloni said on Wednesday after qualifying for the final match of the North American World Cup in Atlanta after beating England 2-1.
Looking forward to Sunday’s final against Spain, where Lionel Messi and his teammates will try to retain the world champions title they won in 2022 in Qatar, Scaloni added: “We will try to win, and we will give everything we have, but after that it becomes very difficult.”
“What the players offer is amazing,” he stressed, also speaking about the support of Argentine fans.
He continued, “We are truly unique, and this is not arrogance. I say that from the bottom of my heart. These people carried us to victory today.”
During the press conference that followed the match, he stressed the steely character of his players, who are always ready to fight until the end.
He said: “Football is not just tactics, strategy, or beautiful play. Football is everything summed up in these few minutes. When we scored the goal to go 2-1 up, we had to fight until the end, and that’s what we did. It’s an image of everything football has taught us since we were kids.”
He added, “They play as if they were seven or eight years old. They do not say to themselves: What if I miss the opportunity? + Or what if we go out? They are not thinking about that. They are only thinking about playing football, as they have always done.”
Scaloni cited his captain, Lionel Messi, who was unstoppable at the end of the match and scored two goals.
He said: “Today, during the last fifteen, twenty or twenty-five minutes, whenever he had the opportunity, Messi had possession of the ball. Messi began to play as if he were in his own garden.”
As for Spain, his opponent in the final, he said: “Everyone knows how they play and what their style is, and it will certainly be a great match.”
