An intestinal infection that spreads to more than half of the US states

More than half of US states are facing outbreaks of gastroenteritis caused by food-borne parasites.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported today that about 7,000 confirmed or suspected cases of Cyclospora, an infection caused by a microscopic parasite, have been recorded in 34 US states.
The center explained that this disease spreads when a person eats food or water contaminated with the parasite, usually through fresh produce that has not been washed or cooked well, noting that symptoms include diarrhea, loss of appetite, fever, and vomiting.

The American Medical Association warns of the possibility of relapses, as symptoms may disappear and then reappear.
