"Emirates Copyright Management" She reviews her experience "General Assembly of the World Intellectual Property Organization"


Sharjah, July 15 / WAM / The Emirates Copyright Management Association, in its capacity as an observer member of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), participated in the meetings of the general assemblies of member states, which include representatives of 194 countries, which were held in the Swiss city of Geneva during the period from 7 to 15 July this year.
This participation confirms the growing UAE presence in international forums concerned with formulating intellectual property policies and strengthening global efforts aimed at protecting creativity and developing the copyright and related rights system.
Through its participation in this high-level international forum, the Society seeks to build qualitative partnerships with collective management organizations and relevant international institutions and exchange experiences on best practices in regulating the legal use of literary, scientific and professional works in a way that supports the development of a more flexible and innovative Emirati model in managing copyrights that keeps pace with the rapid transformations imposed by the digital environment and the creative economy.
During its participation, the Society reviewed the Emirati experience in the collective management of copyrights before official delegations, experts and decision-makers from around the world, and its initiatives and efforts aimed at establishing a culture of respect for copyright, enhancing legal compliance in the use of works, and supporting a sustainable knowledge environment that stimulates creative production and ensures a balance between making knowledge available and protecting the rights of its owners, which embodies the Society’s commitment to contribute to achieving the UAE’s directions towards supporting the knowledge economy and consolidating its position as a global center for innovation and creative industries.
The association shed light on its institutional journey and the qualitative achievements it has achieved since its founding that have contributed to consolidating its position as an active partner in the copyright system regionally and internationally, most notably building a wide network of international partnerships and concluding cooperation agreements with collective management organizations around the world, in addition to launching the first licenses for the use of content within universities in the UAE, which constituted a pioneering station for promoting the legal use of works within educational and cultural institutions.
Mohammed Bin Dakhin, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association, stressed that participation in the meetings of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) represents an important opportunity to strengthen international relations, exchange experiences with specialized institutions, and explore new horizons for cooperation in light of the accelerating digital transformations.
He added that the association, through its international participation, continues to work on developing an innovative Emirati model in the collective management of rights that reflects the ambition of the UAE and its leadership in governing creativity, preserving content, and enabling rights holders to benefit fairly from their works.
