Spain.. “El Matador” is on the path to glory and is approaching the world title

The Spanish national team continued to write its distinguished chapters in the 2026 World Cup, after defeating France by two unanswered goals in the semi-finals, to reserve its place in the final match for the second time in its history, and to strengthen its position as the most prominent candidates to win the title, thanks to a balanced performance that combines tactical discipline and offensive effectiveness.

Reaching the final is the result of the project led by coach Luis de la Fuente, who returned the “La Roja” team to the forefront of world football, after winning the 2024 European Cup, by building a team that mixes the vitality of young elements with the experience of senior players, while preserving the identity of Spanish football based on possession and high pressure.

De La Fuente made his mark against France, after the Spanish team took control of the midfield and succeeded in disrupting the keys to its opponent’s play, turning the confrontation with one of the strongest teams in the world into a complete tactical display. The “Matador” was not satisfied with possession, but he excelled in controlling the pace of the match, choosing the timing of pressure, and exploiting opportunities to secure qualification.

The Spanish national team scored its first goal through Mikel Oyarzabal from a penalty kick, before Pedro Porro added the second goal, in a match during which the team confirmed that it had the character of a champion, after maintaining its record without delaying the score during any match in the tournament.

Spain has become the fourth team in the twenty-first century to reach the World Cup final without finding itself behind at any moment, after Germany 2002, Italy 2006 and Argentina 2014, a number that reflects the team’s ability to impose its style and control the course of the matches.

La Roja also reached the final for the second time in its history, after winning the title in 2010, and reached the seventh final in major tournaments, after winning five titles in six previous final matches, in addition to achieving eight consecutive victories in the elimination rounds of the World Cup and the European Cup, which is the best record for a European team.

Spain’s success did not depend on one player, but Oyarzabal emerged remarkably after raising his tally to five goals, equaling the record for the best Spanish scorer in one edition of the World Cup, while Pedro Porro made history after becoming the second Spanish defender to score two goals in one edition after Fernando Hierro.

By eliminating France, the Spanish team confirmed that it possesses all the elements of a champion, after ending the “Roosters” series that lasted 11 matches without losing in the World Cup knockout rounds, and continued its successful project under the leadership of De La Fuente.

The “Matador” is now only one match away from regaining the World Cup title, which he enters with great confidence, relying on his distinguished numbers, his balance between defense and attack, and the character of a team that proved during the tournament that it is the most ready to achieve world glory.
