Abu Dhabi Police sets 9 guidelines for safe driving of scooters

The Abu Dhabi Police General Command has identified nine preventive guidelines to ensure the safe driving of electric bicycles (scooters), calling on its users to fully adhere to precautionary measures to protect themselves and maintain the safety of road users.

She published, through her account on the “X” platform, a set of instructions that “scooter” users must adhere to, including: Commitment to wearing personal protective equipment (head helmet, knee and elbow protectors), using lanes designated for bicycles, walking in the direction of traffic, staying away from public roads designated for vehicles, adhering to the specified speeds and not exceeding them, and not accompanying any other passenger or carrying heavy weights, as this may cause loss of balance and increased risk of accidents.

In addition to not using earphones while driving, to maintain concentration and attention to the road environment, adhere to traffic signals and signboards, give priority to road users according to regulations, avoid using a mobile phone, dual headphones, or any means that may lead to distraction while driving, and ensure the safety of the electric bike before use, especially the brakes, tires, and lights, and finally drive with caution in crowded areas, giving way to pedestrians, while avoiding overtaking and dangerous parades.
