Dubai Customs: Economic packages and proactive initiatives have contributed to enhancing the flexibility of Dubai’s economy and consolidating its global trade leadership.

DUBAI, 19th July, 2018 (WAM) – The Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation confirmed that the economic packages, initiatives, proactive measures, and customs facilitations implemented by the Dubai Customs Department during the recent period embodied the emirate’s proactive approach in enhancing the flexibility of the economy and ensuring the continuity of trade movement, and contributed to establishing an integrated system of customs facilitations and economic solutions that maintained the flow of trade movement, enhanced the confidence of the business community, and supported the sustainability of companies. Enhancing Dubai’s position as a global center for trade and logistics services, in line with the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.

These efforts come in line with the economic directives adopted by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Dubai, regarding adopting economic facilities, with the aim of enhancing economic flexibility and business sustainability.

These economic packages resulted in a direct economic impact, such as providing cash liquidity exceeding 79 million dirhams to the private sector, ensuring the continuity of trade flows amounting to 33.9 billion dirhams, in addition to supporting the business continuity of thousands of companies and enhancing the flexibility of supply chains, which contributes to consolidating the competitiveness of the business environment and advancing the process of sustainable economic growth in the emirate.

His Excellency Abdullah bin Damithan, Chairman of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, stressed that Dubai continues to consolidate its position as a global destination for business and investment, by developing an economic environment capable of keeping pace with global changes, and providing the elements of sustainable growth for various sectors, in a way that enhances the emirate’s competitiveness and consolidates its presence on the global trade map.

His Excellency said: The past stage demonstrated that readiness and speed of response represent an essential pillar for maintaining the continuity of economic activity. Therefore, the Ports and Customs Corporation was keen, in light of the changes witnessed in the region, to harness its capabilities to support companies and provide practical solutions that contributed to the continuation of business movement and strengthening investors’ confidence in the Dubai environment, based on a firm conviction that standing by the business community in exceptional times represents a national responsibility that contributes to protecting the emirate’s gains and enhancing its ability. To continue growing.

His Excellency added: We continue to develop the Corporation’s services in a way that gives companies greater flexibility in managing their business, raises the efficiency of trade movement, and reduces time and effort for customers, based on our vision that the success of the business sector is a success for the entire Dubai economy. The Corporation will continue its role as a strategic partner in enhancing Dubai’s competitiveness, attracting quality investments, and developing a more efficient, sustainable, and future-ready trade system.

For his part, His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Busnad, Director General of Dubai Customs, said: The customs facilities launched by Dubai Customs during the last phase are a direct translation of the directives of the wise leadership, and an embodiment of Dubai’s approach to anticipating regional and international changes, by developing policies and procedures that enhance the continuity of trade, increase the flexibility of the business environment, and enable the private sector to continue to grow confidently in various circumstances, in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al. Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him.

He added: The achieved results confirm the effectiveness of this approach in enhancing investor confidence and consolidating Dubai’s attractiveness for global investments, as Dubai Customs attracted more than 4,000 new customers during the period from March 1 to June 30, 2026, which reflects the solidity of the business environment and investors’ confidence in Dubai’s ability to continue growth and enhance its economic competitiveness.

The results of the integrated package of facilities and procedures implemented by Dubai Customs confirmed that responding to regional changes contributed to enhancing the confidence of the business community, supporting the stability of companies, and raising the emirate’s readiness to deal with shifts in the global trade movement.

Rashid Al Sharid, Executive Director of the Financial and Administrative Affairs Sector at Dubai Customs, confirmed that the economic packages came in direct response to the needs of the business community, and focused on providing practical solutions that enhanced the flexibility of companies and reduced financial and operational burdens, in translation of the directives of the wise leadership in supporting the private sector and enhancing the competitiveness of Dubai’s economy.

He said: The package included extending the deadlines for pending customs duties, paying fees in installments, and reducing financial fines by 80% in customs cases. It contributed to providing cash flow exceeding 79 million dirhams for the benefit of 428 companies, which enhanced the sustainability of their businesses and consolidated the business community’s confidence in Dubai’s ability to provide flexible economic solutions that keep pace with various changes.

The results of Customs Declaration No. (12/2026) regarding extending the deadlines for customs duties pending statuses confirm the direct economic impact of these facilities, as 6,613 companies benefited from extending the deadlines for 120 days for customs declarations included in the declaration, which include import statuses for the purpose of re-export, temporary entry, and transit of all kinds, which provided greater flexibility for customers in managing their customs obligations, enhanced their cash liquidity, and supported continuity. Their work and the flow of trade movement and supply chains, with the possibility of extending the work of these facilities pursuant to a subsequent customs declaration in accordance with the approved controls and procedures.

The package also included customs announcements No. (14/2026) and (15/2026), related to installments of customs duties and reducing financial fines by 80%, in addition to extending the transit period from 30 to 90 days, facilitating the entry of shipments through the ports of Khor Fakkan, Fujairah, and the Hatta port and transporting them by land under the customs guarantee system, and giving priority to completing food and medicine transactions. This enhanced the sustainability of supply chains and the flexibility of trade movement.

Since the early days of geopolitical changes, Dubai Customs took the initiative to launch the “Green Corridor” to ensure the continued flow of trade through alternative paths, and to maintain the smooth arrival of goods to markets, in a practical translation of Dubai’s proactive approach to protecting supply chains and enhancing trade continuity.

The Green Corridor contributed to ensuring the smooth movement of more than 203,242 containers, and transported more than 3.16 million tons of goods with a value exceeding 33.9 billion dirhams, coming from 188 countries, during the period (March 1 – June 30, 2026), which confirms Dubai’s ability to maintain the smooth flow of trade and the sustainability of supply chains.

Food products topped the goods transiting through the Green Corridor with a value exceeding 5.3 billion dirhams, followed by machinery and electrical appliances with a value of 4.24 billion dirhams, then vehicles with a value of 2.21 billion dirhams, plastics with a value of 1.5 billion dirhams, and iron and steel products with more than a billion dirhams, while the value of the rest of the goods amounted to more than 19.6 billion dirhams, reflecting the diversity of the emirate’s trade base.

Dubai Customs also dealt with shipments of medicines and pharmaceutical preparations with a value of 446.6 million dirhams, and continued to develop its digital services through the “Shahner” platform, based on the latest tracking and smart electronic sealing technologies, which enhanced the efficiency of operations and the speed of movement of goods, in parallel with maintaining an immediate clearance rate of 93%, which contributed to raising the efficiency of customs services and accelerating the completion of transactions.

In parallel with these measures, Dubai Customs strengthened its direct communication with the business community, as it identified more than 83 challenges and development proposals in the areas of customs clearance, logistics services, and shipping costs, and a large percentage of them were transformed into practical initiatives and procedures within a record period, which contributed to improving services, accelerating the completion of transactions, and enhancing the flexibility of trade movement, in a way that embodies the strength of the partnership between Dubai Customs and the private sector.
