Tomorrow, the Netherlands will host the seventh leg of the President’s Cup for Purebred Arabian Horses
The Hague, July 25 / WAM / The competitions of the thirty-third edition of the His Highness the President’s Cup series for purebred Arabian horses will continue tomorrow, Sunday, with the seventh leg being held on the Dondocht grass track in The Hague, Kingdom of the Netherlands, in a new stop within the agenda of the World Cup activity, which enjoys the support of the wise leadership, with the aim of strengthening the status of the purebred Arabian horse, encouraging owners and breeders to acquire and raise it, and preserving its ancient legacy. And consolidate its presence in the most prominent international arenas.
The race, which is held over a distance of 2,150 meters on grass, is part of the third category races, designated for purebred Arabian horses aged 4 years and above. The race will witness the participation of 11 horses representing the elite of stalls and stables in the Netherlands and Europe, with the competitions starting at three o’clock in the afternoon, The Hague time.
Attention is turning to the horse “Al-Zeer”, owned by Omar Ismail Gharghar, under the supervision of trainer François Rohu, and under the leadership of the jockey Adel Al-Qayed, after he won the title of the Belgian leg of the cup in 2025, and finished runner-up in the Dutch leg during the same season, in addition to occupying third place in the Italian leg in the current edition.
“Farida B”, owned and trained by Peter Dekkers, led by jockey Koen Clemence, also stands out after winning the title of the Dutch station in 2024, and the Swedish station in the 2025 edition, in addition to coming third in the Swedish station during the current season.
The race also witnesses the participation of the UAE representative, the horse “Maqbool”, who returns to Yas to manage horse races, under the supervision of trainer Xavier Thomas Demollet, and led by jockey Leo-Paul Brichet.
The list of participants also includes: “El Paso Tea”, “Al Riffa”, “Go Star”, “Al Zarka DA”, “Love Me De La Serre”, “Mahdi Du Bruel”, “Farouk Al Shahaniya”, and “Papillion Tea”, in a race that is expected to witness strong competition until the last meters.
The Netherlands station has a special place in the Cup’s record, having witnessed the crowning of a number of the most prominent champion horses, namely: “Jalmar” (2017), “Lighting Bolt” (2018), “Khair Al-Sham” (2019), “Jarf” (2021 and 2022), “Messi” (2023), “Farida B” (2024), and “Afjan” (2025).
His Excellency Matar Suhail Al Yabhouni Al Dhaheri, Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee of the His Highness the President of the State Cup Series for Purebred Arabian Horses, confirmed that the Netherlands station reflects the growing global status of the Cup and its role in supporting owners and breeders and advancing the career of the Arabian horse in countries around the world.
He said that the Netherlands station represents one of the important stations on the agenda of the thirty-third edition, due to its prominent position in European Arabian horse racing, and the continued presence of the Cup on international tracks, in line with its mission to preserve the legacy of the Arabian horse and enhance its position globally.
He added that the strong participation of the elite stalls and stables, in addition to the presence of a number of horses crowned with previous Cup station titles, enhances the technical and competitive value of the race, and confirms the prestigious status that this series enjoys on the international scene.
