On July 29, WAM, the activities of the first session of “Al Ain Dates,” organized by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, continued at “Al Sarooj Park” in Al Ain, with the participation of farmers and producers from various emirates of the country.

In this regard, the festival’s organizing committee announced yesterday evening the names of the winners of the Shishi, Oasis Elite, and local and assorted lemon competitions, within the competitions of the event, which continues until July 31.

His Excellency Obaid Khalfan Al Mazrouei, Executive Director of the Festivals and Events Sector at the Authority, crowned the winners on the festival stage.

The results of the Shishi competition resulted in Zayed Issa Mubarak Issa Al Mansouri winning first place, Fahad Freeh Mohammed Freeh Al Qubaisi coming second, and Bakhita Ahmed Hamad Al Mansouri coming in third place.

In the Oasis Elite Competition, Salem Khalfan Mohammed Al Neyadi won first place, the heirs of Abdullah Salem Saeed Al Neyadi came in second place, and Hamdan Abdullah Saeed Al Afrit Al Kuwaiti came third.

The organizing committee for the Shishi and Elite Oasis competitions allocated 15 prizes for each competition, with a total value of 397 thousand dirhams, of which the first place winner will receive 100 thousand dirhams, the second will receive 75 thousand dirhams, and the third will receive 40 thousand dirhams.

In the local lemon competition, Hamad Damithan Khalfan Al Shamsi won first place, Sheikha Rashid Abdullah Al Ali came in second place, while Suhail Sultan Rashid Jaber Al Khaili came in third place.

The various lemon competition witnessed Hamoud Salem Mohammed Al-Saadi winning first place, Salem Abdullah Mohammed Hashel Al-Qaidi coming in second, and Hamdan Khamis Saeed Saif Al-Mazrouei in third place.

The lemon competition has allocated 10 prizes for each category, with a total value of 117 thousand dirhams, of which the first place winner will receive 25 thousand dirhams, the second place will receive 20 thousand dirhams, and the third place will receive 15 thousand dirhams.

Yesterday, the festival received 950 kilograms of dates in the Bu Maan and Al-Khunaizi competitions, presented by 95 participants, and distributed among 190 bakeries.

Bou Maan’s entries amounted to 470 kilograms submitted by 47 participants in 94 myths, while the Al-Khunaizi competition received 480 kilograms from 48 participants in 96 myths. The judging committees continue to examine the entries according to the approved standards, in preparation for announcing the results and crowning the winners this evening.

The festival – which receives visitors daily from 4 pm to 10 pm – aims to preserve agricultural heritage, encourage the best modern practices in palm care, enhance food security, and improve the quality of the local product, in addition to stimulating economic activity and spreading awareness of the importance of the palm tree and its role in the life of Emirati society.
