125 films in the fourth session of the Red Sea Film Festival

Filmmakers and those in charge of the Red Sea International Film Festival are preparing to launch its fourth session, which is being held under the slogan “Cinema is a New Home.”
The festival will run from December 5 to 14, highlighting emerging talent from Saudi Arabia and the Middle East and North Africa region.
The festival’s fourth edition showcases 125 films from 50 countries, featuring a diverse lineup of films, including world premieres.
While 2,000 films will be presented for this session from various parts of the world, which reflects the credibility that the festival has achieved.
The Egyptian film “Dhi” was chosen to be the opening film of the fourth session, in its first international showing. The film deals with a group of influential topics and values, such as tolerance, ambition, and the influence of music.

Official competition films of the festival

“Into an Unknown Land” by director Mahdi Fleifel, which will be shown for the first time in the Middle East and North Africa region, is a poignant dramatic film that revolves around the story of two Palestinian friends who find themselves trapped in Athens, trying to escape to northern Europe in search of a better life.
The competition will also witness the regional premiere of the film “Sima’s Song,” by Afghan director Roya Sadat, which is a dramatic work that highlights the rights of Afghan women in light of the Soviet war in Afghanistan during the 1970s.
The film “The Incredible Boys of Malegaon” by Indian director Rima Kagti, which received critical acclaim, will be screened. It is a comedy based on a true story about a group of amateur filmmakers who come together to create a film that celebrates the history of their city and its residents.
“To Kill a Mongolian Horse” by director Xiaochuan Jiang, the first Asian film funded by the Red Sea Film Fund, deals with the deep bond between humans and horses in Mongolian culture, and addresses the themes of social upliftment and rapid societal development.
The festival will witness a screening of the feature film “Moon” by Iraqi-Austrian director Cordwin Ayoub. The film revolves around a former mixed martial arts champion in Austria, who is looking for a new beginning. She accepts an unexpected offer to go to Jordan to train three sisters from a wealthy Jordanian family who lives in an isolated palace.

Feature Film Competition

The list includes the two Egyptian films, “Snow White,” directed by Taghreed Abu Al-Hassan. Its story revolves around Cairo, about a girl who is looking for an opportunity for love. She subscribes to an Islamic marriage website and hides that she is of short stature, hoping that the groom who falls in love with her will forgive her. Her little secret. As for the other film competing in the international competition, “Searching for a Way Out for Mr. Rambo,” directed by Khaled Mansour, revolves around a person searching to save Rambo, the dog he owns. International films for the first time

The festival is showing, for the first time in the Arab world, the film “Maria” by director Pablo Larraín and starring Angelina Jolie, in addition to the film “Moody – Three Days on the Wing of Madness”, directed by Johnny Depp. In addition to the romantic comedy-drama “We Live in Time,” starring Oscar-nominated stars Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh, “Naples – New York,” which embodies Federico Fellini’s vision, and “Forty Acres,” the first feature work by director R. T. Thorne.

Family films at the events of the fourth session

The fourth session will screen 3 films within the “Family Cinema” program, the first of which is the Egyptian film “Sugar: Seven and the Pearls”, directed by Tamer Mahdy, written by Heba Mishari Hamada.
The film “PANDA BEAR IN AFRICA”, directed by Richard Close and Carsten Kellerich, will also be screened at the festival.
And the movie “NIGHT OF THE ZOOPOCALYPSE,” which tells the story of a virus that turns animals at the Culpeper Zoo into zombies, and then begins the search for a cure.
