With an expanded cultural system…the launch of the Kingdom’s pavilion at the Kuala Lumpur Book Fair


I launched Literature, Publishing and Translation Authority, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Pavilion participating as "Guest of honor" In The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques is with Malaysia, Osama bin Dakhil Al-Ahmadi, the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, and the Malaysian Minister of Education, Fazlina Siddiq.

Dr. Abdul Latif Al-Wasel confirmed that choosing the Kingdom as a guest of honor for this prominent Asian forum comes as a culmination of the strong cultural relations between the two countries, and in appreciation of the Kingdom’s active presence in the regional and international cultural scene, which provides an exceptional opportunity to introduce the Asian public to the pedigree of Saudi culture.

Empowering the cultural sectors

Al-Wasil extended his thanks and gratitude to His Highness Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, Minister of Culture, for his continued support to enable the cultural sectors to perform their pioneering role in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. He also expressed his thanks to the Prime Minister and Minister of Education of Malaysia for the generous hospitality and warm reception.

The Authority is leading the Kingdom’s participation with an expanded cultural and literary delegation that includes heritage, music, and film bodies, And culinary arts, and fashion, in addition to prominent national bodies that include the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance, the King Fahd Complex for the Printing of the Noble Qur’an, the King Fahd National Library, the King Abdulaziz Public Library, the King Salman International Academy for the Arabic Language, the Ministry of Justice, and the Nasher Publishing and Distribution Company.

Features of Creative Diversity

The Kingdom’s Pavilion showcases the features of creative diversity and national identity through an integrated cultural program that includes seminars and poetry evenings by an elite group of people. Saudi writers, and live performances of traditional performing arts (such as Al-Khatwa, Al-Samari, and Al-Khabiti) inside the exhibition and in public squares, in addition to an exhibition of historical manuscripts, a corner for Saudi publications, another for handicrafts and archaeological reproductions, as well as corners dedicated to costumes, musical instruments, and Saudi film production, in addition to… "Saudi Council" It is worth mentioning that the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair, whose first session was launched in 1981 and was organized by the Malaysian Ministry of Education, is considered one of the oldest and largest influential cultural events in the Southeast Asia region, as it has succeeded over more than four decades in consolidating its position as a leading regional and global platform in the publishing and knowledge industry.
