Al Muhairi wins the Longines Grand Prix at the Sharjah Kalba International Show Jumping Championship 3

Sharjah, December 8 / WAM / Sheikh Haitham bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Deputy Head of the Office of His Highness the Ruler in the city of Kalba, and Sheikh Abdullah bin Majid Al Qasimi, President of the Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club, crowned the jockey Humaid Abdullah Al Muhairi on the back of the horse “Fonesti VD Hefenk” – 10 years – Owned by Al Shiraa Stables, the winner of the Grand Longines competition in the Sharjah Kalba International Show Jumping Championship, three-star category.

The tournament was organized within the 6th Sharjah Kalba Equestrian Festival, under the supervision of the International Equestrian Federation and the Emirates Equestrian and Racing Federation, and sponsored by Longines and Al Marwan, during the period from 5 to 8 December, at Kalba Beach, and includes 10 competitions, all of which are in the three-star category.

The tournament activities and coronation ceremonies were attended by His Excellency Sultan Muhammad Khalifa Al Yahyai, ​​Director General of the Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club, Rashid Saif Al Zaabi, Director of the Sharjah Kalba Equestrian Festival, and Patrick Aoun, Regional Director of Longines.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Majid Al Qasimi said that the Sharjah Kalba Championship, with its new international classification, has become more distinguished in its organization, location and timing, and thanks to all sponsors and all committees that contributed to achieving the success of the tournament, which was organized with the support and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, for their interest. In all sports activities, equestrian in particular, and working to spread them.

He added that, according to the directives of His Highness, the Sharjah Kalba Equestrian Festival will be held next year over a period of 10 days and includes show jumping, dressage, and Arabian horse beauty.

Today, the Longines Grand Prix competition for the championship was held with the specifications of a single round with a round of distinction. For the first time, a show jumping course was designed on Kalba Beach with hurdles 150 cm high, in which 24 riders competed for prizes totaling 56,800 euros. Four riders completed the main round without error, and the competition was renewed among them in a round of differentiation. Two riders succeeded in completing it without error, the first of whom was the young rider of the Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club, Hamid Abdullah Al Muhairi, accompanied by the horse “Fonesti VD Havenque,” ​​completed the distinction in a fast time of 38.53 seconds and was crowned champion of the championship.

The second place award was won by the American jockey Maggie Hill and the horse “Elmgardens Dakota”, who completed the distinction in a time of 44.21 seconds. The third place award was won by the Belgian jockey Constant Fa Pischen and the horse “Isidore Fa Du Hale” who completed the distinction round in 39.36 seconds and with 4 penalty points.

The competitions continued on the closing day with a two-stage competition over the 135 cm hurdles, in which 31 male and female riders competed. 14 riders completed the two stages without error, led by the young rider Muhammad Hamad al-Karbi with the horse “Foss” with a second stage time of 22.54 seconds. The second place award was crowned by our rider Muhammad Shafi al-Rumaithi and the mare “Karamba.” The time was 23.33 seconds, and the third place award was won by the brilliant Egyptian jockey Amr Gamal Mohamed with the horse “Zazu Z” finished the second stage in a competitive time of 23.93 seconds.

The penultimate competition was held according to the specifications of the two stages, but this time on hurdles with a height of 140 cm. 24 male and female riders competed in it, and 9 of them crossed the two stages without error. The victory came to two female riders from Britain who achieved first and second places. The first was achieved by female rider Katie Spiller with the mare “B Alcantara”, with a time of 26.41. A second and the second was won by the jockey Lily Atwood and the mare “Calvarus Up to Date” and Time 28.15 seconds, and third place went to the jockey Salem Khamis Al Suwaidi with the mare “Kimberly 23”, finishing the second stage in a time of 28.42 seconds.

With the specifications of one round over hurdles with a height of 145 cm, the qualifying competition for the Longines Grand Prix was held yesterday evening and witnessed hot demonstrations between 44 male and female riders, 12 of whom succeeded in achieving the hope of crossing into the Grand Prix competition without error, and “by time difference, he seized the lead and was crowned with the prize by the Belgian rider, Constant Van Paasschen.” The horse, “Diaz De Thot” – 11 years old – finished the round in a time of 60.04 seconds and was crowned second place. The young Olympian rider of the Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club, Omar Abdul Aziz Al Marzouqi, accompanied by the horse “Shako B” – 10 years old – who is one of the jumping horses at Al Shiraa Stables, was crowned third place. The leading rider, the Belgian Constant Van Paschen, with the horse “Isidore Van De Heel”, finished the round with him in a time. 62.02 seconds.

The two brothers, the budding rider, Ali Mufarrej Al-Karbi, on the horse “Air Ukran” – 20 years old – and the young knight, Saleh Mufarrej Al-Karbi, on the horse “Espresso” – 15 years old – from the jumping horses at the Sharjah Equestrian Club, achieved a surprise at the end of yesterday’s competitions with the specifications of the two stages, over hurdles that reached a height of 120 meters. They won the first and second place prizes, respectively, and the third place prize was won by the Egyptian jockey Amr Gamal Mohamed with the horse “Coriolan de Lauire” – 12 years old -.
