Croatian Krunslav Jurcic, coach of the Pyramids team, came out with a statement confirming that the Malian Djoliba match was the most difficult in his coaching career ever after the two teams faced off today in the African Champions League.
Pyramids had tied 0-0 with Djoliba in the confrontation that brought the two teams together at the March 26 stadium in the Malian capital, Bamako, in the second round of the group stage, raising the team’s score to 4 points at the top of the group, equally with the Tunisian giant Esperance.
The Pyramids coach confirmed after the match and during the press conference that he lived through difficult days and more difficult circumstances during the Malian Champions match, describing the match as the most difficult for him ever.
While recognizing that Jurcic is one of the distinguished coaches and has been providing attacking football with Pyramids with good results since his arrival, the statement about the most difficult confrontation ever for him may seem exaggerated, as Al-Ahly and Zamalek’s confrontations in the local tournaments are rather the most difficult and strongest.
Perhaps the coach may be referring to the circumstances of the match itself and not the opponent, especially since the team suffered from some of its players suffering from colds and the absence of many of its important cards from the match.
