Two graduates from the Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation win a competition "Terra Carta"

Dubai, December 9, 2017 – Terra Carta Design Lab, one of the sustainable markets initiatives founded by His Majesty King Charles III, King of the United Kingdom, in cooperation with international designer Sir Jony Ive, announced that graduates from the Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation won two awards in the design competition. Global for the year 2024.
The competition aims to find innovative solutions to address the challenges associated with the climate and biodiversity crisis, and witnessed the participation of students from prestigious universities around the world, where graduates of the Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation presented two innovative projects: “Airofi”, which is a smart device that helps patients with chronic respiratory diseases by collecting Data on air pollution, and FUZE, a system that converts energy generated by cycling into electricity, promoting the concept of sustainability.
Each winning team will receive funding of £100,000 to develop their project and transform it into viable solutions in the market.
Sana Muhammad, founder of “Bionik Tech” and inventor of “Airofi,” expressed her pride in this achievement, stressing that the project combines technology and design to serve individual health and the environment.
Dalila Mansour, founder of the “FUZE” project, also expressed her gratitude for the support she received from the Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation, noting that the win reflects a great responsibility to turn the vision into reality.
Sir Jony Ive, Chairman of the Jury, confirmed that the solutions presented demonstrated practical creative thinking to confront environmental challenges, while Mohammed Abdullah, President of the Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation, stressed that this achievement reflects the Institute’s commitment to developing sustainable design solutions that address global issues.
