Air and naval bases.. Does Russia maintain its military presence in Syria?
Russia wants to maintain its military bases in Syria after the overthrow of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, and intends to discuss their locations with the country’s future leadership.
The Russian Interfax news agency quoted Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov as saying on Monday: “We are witnessing a period of transformation and great instability, so of course it will take some time, and then it will require a serious dialogue with those who will come to power.”
It is noteworthy that Russia has a number of facilities in Syria, including air and naval bases, and Peskov said that it is now important to clarify the issue of the security of the Russian army in Syria.

The Assad family in Russia
The Kremlin spokesman added that the Russian soldiers themselves had taken all necessary precautions, without providing any details, and there were no plans to withdraw at the present time.
He confirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin, who had met Assad several times, had made the decision to receive the family. Peskov did not specifically mention where the Assad family lived.
Peskov pointed out the importance of maintaining dialogue with all countries in the region, noting that Russia is discussing the situation in Syria with Türkiye.
