The Board of Directors praises the efforts of the Archives and the National Library and reviews the performance report

Abu Dhabi, December 11 / WAM / The Board of Directors of the National Archives and Library, in its meeting held under the chairmanship of His Excellency Hamad bin Abdul Rahman Al Midfa and in the presence of members of the Board of Directors, praised the efforts of the Archives and the National Library in terms of preserving the nation’s memory and the rapid development it is witnessing, which consolidates its position among the global archives and the cultural system. In the UAE, it preserves the country’s cultural content, manufactures it and disseminates it. This has made it popular among researchers and those interested in the history, heritage and culture of the Emirates inside and outside the country.

The Board of Directors reviewed the strategic plan that extends until 2032, and reviewed the performance report for the year 2024 and the most prominent future projects that confirm the role of the archive and the National Library in the field of documenting the ancient history of the Emirates, and its protection of the legacy of fathers and grandfathers in all its details. It also reviewed its aspirations and goals in the next stage. It has played an essential role in enriching knowledge societies.

The Board of Directors stressed the importance of the role of the Archives and the National Library in empowering knowledge societies in line with the aspirations of the wise leadership for the future of the UAE, and the importance of the national role it plays in providing accurate and documented information in its publications that document the history of the UAE in several international languages, and appreciated its interest in artificial intelligence and its relevant applications. The relationship with archiving and documentation and what it adds to the level of archival work, and its attraction of distinctive experiences in the field of archiving and blogging, and its great project represented by The Encyclopedia of the History of the United Arab Emirates, and it looks forward to continuing its development and distinction that qualifies it to maintain its position among the largest archives in the world.

His Excellency Abdullah Majid Al Ali, Director General, reviewed what the National Archives and the National Library have achieved in terms of the specialized conferences it organizes, whether in archiving or in the field of translation and oral history, the conferences it participates in inside and outside the country, and the awards it wins for its excellence in performance and in what it presents, and it is keen on qualification. Scientific research for generations in the field of records management and archival studies.

He touched on the most prominent projects and the most important initiatives that the National Archives and Library are adopting and successfully completing in record time. This demonstrates that it continues to march confidently and capably towards the future as it documents the past and records the present in order to preserve the nation’s memory for future generations.

The Board of Directors approved the financial plan and final accounts for the year 2024, and also discussed the strategy of the Archives and the National Library in the field of building content and completing knowledge sources, and its continuing efforts to make the National Library a new civilizational and cultural beacon in the UAE.
