In a step that reflects the rapid progress in specialized services, King Saud Medical City – Member Riyadh First Health Center, enhancing its capabilities in diagnosing and treating epilepsy patients, through the epilepsy monitoring unit, which is one of the basic pillars of following up complex cases, and providing Integrated health care based on accuracy, quality and patient safety.

The epilepsy monitoring unit plays a pivotal role in evaluating patients who suffer from uncontrolled seizures, as it enables medical teams to conduct continuous monitoring using video-EEG monitoring techniques, which allows the electrical activity of the brain to be monitored in conjunction with clinical symptoms with high accuracy, and contributes to reaching an accurate diagnosis and developing customized treatment plans for each case.

The unit is also used in differentiation Between epileptic and non-epileptic seizures, and identifying the brain foci responsible for the seizures, which helps reduce dependence on ineffective treatments, and directs patients towards the most appropriate treatment options, whether pharmaceutical or surgical when needed.

For his part, Head of the Neurology Department, Hani Al-Abdali, explained that the epilepsy monitoring unit represents a qualitative addition to specialized services, stressing: “We are keen to provide a comprehensive and accurate evaluation of epilepsy cases, especially complex cases that require continuous monitoring, which contributes to improving treatment results and reducing complications, while employing the latest medical technologies in accordance with the best international practices.”

He added that the unit enhances integration between different medical specialties within the city, contributes to raising the efficiency of early diagnosis, and enables patients to obtain advanced care within the Kingdom without the need to For referral to external centers.
