Events and pictures: A huge fire sweeps through Malibu, USA

Firefighters in Malibu, California, are battling a huge fire that broke out near Pepperdine University, which has led to large evacuations from the area amid expectations that the fire will spread to wider areas due to strong winds.

The fire was reported last Monday in the Malibu Canyon area north of Pacific Highway.

The fire started in only about four dunams of forest, but it quickly spread widely, destroying more than 12 thousand dunams as of the day before yesterday.

Pepperdine University canceled scheduled teaching and final exams, until further notice, after the local authorities decided for residents to remain in their homes until the firefighting operations ended and the place cooled down.
