1,000 participants in the Khalifa University Cycling Challenge

Abu Dhabi, December 16, 2017 – The Abu Dhabi Cycling Club and Khalifa University of Science and Technology are organizing the fourth edition of the Khalifa University Challenge, on the first of next February, with two starting points from Abu Dhabi and Dubai, reaching the summit of Jebel Hafeet in Al Ain, for the second time in a row.
Participants in the Abu Dhabi track start in front of the Khalifa University campus, while participants in the Dubai track start from the Al Qudra cycling track, with the expected participation of more than 1,000 cyclists.
Professor Ibrahim Al-Hajri, President of Khalifa University of Science and Technology, expressed the university’s pride in organizing the fourth edition of the Khalifa University Cycling Challenge, in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Cycling Club and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, as part of the university’s commitment to its social responsibility and supporting initiatives that contribute to enhancing community health.
He pointed out that the success of the previous editions reflects the university’s continued interest in highlighting the role that sport plays in improving the quality of life and establishing a healthy and active society, through cooperation with the relevant authorities and institutions.
For his part, Al Nakhira Al Khaili, Executive Director of the Abu Dhabi Cycling Club, said that the club continues, with the launch of the fourth edition of the Khalifa University Challenge, to work to achieve its comprehensive and ambitious goals, which include promoting a healthy and sustainable lifestyle, and encouraging all segments of society to practice cycling. Aerobic exercise, in addition to raising awareness of its importance as an enjoyable sport and an easy means of transportation.
