Sharjah Police enhances security culture with a campaign "Be aware"

Sharjah, December 18 / WAM / Sharjah Police General Command today launched its awareness campaign “Be Aware” in cooperation with its strategic partners, with the aim of educating a wide segment of society about the danger of electronic fraud and renewed phishing methods, in addition to enhancing the security culture in the digital space.
The “Be Aware” campaign, which lasts for a month, is part of a series of awareness initiatives by Sharjah Police, through which it seeks to consolidate the concepts of prevention and digital awareness, which contributes to creating a safe electronic environment that keeps pace with rapid technological developments.
Brigadier General Ahmed Haji Al Sarkal, Director General of the General Department of Community Prevention and Protection at Sharjah Police, said that the campaign provides comprehensive awareness materials in three languages: Arabic, English and Urdu, through various media outlets and social media platforms of Sharjah Police, to familiarize the public with methods of electronic fraud, phishing methods, and mechanisms for authenticating personal accounts. It will also be distributed. Awareness materials in several locations in the emirate with the aim of reaching the largest segment of society and providing innovative awareness messages appropriate to different age groups.
He explained that the campaign includes an “ethical hacking” competition that simulates multiple cybercrime scenarios such as phishing and electronic hacking, where participants will find a loophole in a security or software system and solve some digital challenges. It is directed to university students in particular and members of society in general.
Brigadier General Al Sarkal stressed the importance of the role of community members in confronting cybercrimes by enhancing digital awareness, verifying the credibility of information, and not sharing personal or financial data with unreliable parties. He called on the public not to hesitate to report any cybercrime, cases of blackmail they are exposed to, or negative behaviors.
