The United Nations calls for increased international support for Syria
Tom Fletcher, head of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, stressed on Wednesday the need to increase support allocated to Syria “on a large scale.”
He called on the international community to respond to the “moment of hope” that the Syrians are experiencing, after the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad.

Support the Syrian people
In an interview with Agence France-Presse on the sidelines of his visit to Syria, Fletcher said: “I want to increase international support on a large scale, but that now depends on the donors.”
He added that there is “an opportunity now”, and we must “stand with the Syrian people and respond to this moment full of hope, and I fear that if we do not do so quickly, this window will close.”
