The number of foreign visitors to Japan exceeds 33 million visitors in 11 months

The number of foreign visitors to Japan exceeded 33 million during the period from January to November 2024, according to government estimates that appeared yesterday, setting a new annual record, driven by a tourism boom and a weak yen.

Japan’s Kyodo News Agency reported that the total number of tourists reached 33,379,900, exceeding the previous high for the entire year of 31.88 million tourists in 2019, according to the Japan National Tourism Organization.

The agency added that during last November, the number of foreign visitors increased by 30.6% on an annual basis to 3.18 million, while every month of this year recorded growth of at least 30% compared to the same period last year.
