المملكة: Setting standards and setting requirements for creating environmentally friendly parking lots
These standards come as part of ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of life and achieve the highest levels of safety and efficiency in the road network.
Saudi road code
The authority indicated that the Saudi road code specified a set of requirements and technical specifications for designing environmentally friendly parking lots.
It includes providing charging stations for electric cars, while ensuring easy access and efficiency of the charging process.
The requirements also include adopting designs that reduce land use while including green spaces for afforestation, providing shade and improving air quality.
Environmentally friendly building materials
This is in addition to using environmentally friendly building materials to reduce carbon emissions, and energy-efficient lighting technologies such as LED lights to improve visibility and reduce energy consumption.
The code also includes the use of technical solutions such as advance reservation systems, smart guidance systems, and electronic payment systems to reduce emissions and enhance sustainability.
The Saudi Road Code is a comprehensive technical reference for all authorities responsible for roads in the Kingdom, including ministries, city development authorities, regional secretariats, municipalities of cities and governorates, and others.
Road maintenance
This comes with the aim of enabling these entities to access the information necessary to plan, design, implement, operate and maintain roads of all types in the Kingdom, taking into account environmental aspects and the requirements of autonomous vehicles.
This is in addition to instructions, drawings, procedures and checklists for all road networks in the Kingdom, to achieve the minimum acceptable levels of quality, safety, security, economic efficiency and sustainability.

Bandits
The General Authority for Roads was entrusted with the tasks of supervising and regulating the road sector by developing the necessary policies and legislation, including the launch of the Saudi Road Code.
It will be implemented as a guideline until the end of this year, and it will be mandatory for all government agencies at the beginning of next year.
It will also be mandatory for private entities in the middle of next year, in order to achieve the objectives of the road sector strategy, which is based on safety, quality and traffic density.
It aims to reach the sixth global index in road quality by 2030.
