Sharjah Arab Creativity Award announces the names of the winners in its 28th session

Sharjah, December 25 / WAM / Today, the Sharjah Department of Culture announced the names of the winners of the 28th session of the Sharjah Arab Creativity Award (first edition), which is organized by the Department, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.
Muhammad Ibrahim Al-Qaseer, Director of the Department of Cultural Affairs at the Department and Secretary-General of the Award, said that the number of winners in this session reached 18 male and female contestants from various Arab countries in its six literary fields, which are poetry, the novel, the short story, theatrical script, children’s literature, and criticism.
He added that the award has provided, over its successive sessions, a creative environment abundant in diversity and has provided the Arab library with hundreds of poetry, novels, short stories, criticism and theatrical publications, and that it witnesses in each session broad Arab participation. In its current session, it attracted more than 470 literary works from Arab countries, and some foreign countries, by Arabic speakers residing in these countries, in a scene that indicates the importance of the award among Arab writers.
He pointed out that the current session received 156 participants from the Arab Republic of Egypt, 90 from the Syrian Arab Republic, 46 from the Republic of Algeria, 43 from the Kingdom of Morocco, 27 from Iraq, 23 from Jordan, 22 from Sudan, 19 from Yemen, 10 from Palestine, and 7 From Oman and Tunisia, 6 from Saudi Arabia, 3 from Bahrain and Mauritania, and 2 participants from Nigeria. And Lebanon, and one participation from the Emirates, Libya, Mali and Turkey.
He explained that the participating texts were distributed among the fields of poetry, with 108 entries, short stories, with 116 entries, novels, with 90 entries, theater, with a total of 64 entries, and children’s literature, with 79 entries. He pointed out that this session allocated the Children’s Literature Award to the play directed at children aged 8 to 11 years. And literary criticism, with 13 entries, and its award was allocated to studying Arabic poetry and the dialectics of heritage and modernity.
The first place in the poetry category was won by Alaallah Taher Alaallah Muhammad Siddiq, from the Republic of Yemen, for his collection “From the Memoirs of a Pre-Islamic Citizen,” and in the short story category, Batoul Yassin Abu Ali, from the Syrian Arab Republic, for her collection “Women of the Family,” and in the novel category. Marwa Diab Al-Haji, from the Syrian Arab Republic and residing in Turkey, for her novel “Like a Shipment in the Space of Corn,” and in the theater category, Hoda Hilmi Youssef Metwally, from the Republic of Arab Egypt, for her play “The Great Leap”.
First place in children’s literature was won by Fatima Abdel Hamid Muhammad Ali, from the Arab Republic of Egypt, for her collection “In Our House is a Robot,” and in the criticism category, Mahmoud Wajih Mahmoud Ibrahim Owaisa, from the Arab Republic of Egypt, for his study “Manifestations of Modernity in Arabic Poetry between Rooting.” heritage and new artistic and formal manifestations.”
A ceremony honoring the winners will be held in April next year at the Culture Palace in Sharjah.
