4 students create a smart application to introduce the heritage and culture of the Emirates

Four students at Abu Dhabi University created the “Kunooz” application to facilitate the journey of searching for heritage and culture. It is a smart phone application designed with the aim of strengthening family ties and deepening the connection with the heritage and culture of the Emirates. Through it, they won third place in the “Wayakum” initiative to enhance community interaction.
The students, Mahmoud Suleiman, Sarah Hamdan, Omnia Ahmed, and Sawala Shafi, explained that the application invites families to embark on weekly adventures full of suspense throughout the city, where they are tasked with solving puzzles that lead them to discover hidden locations. The application rewards participants with collectibles and prizes supported by virtual reality (AR) technologies, which contributes to enhancing their understanding of the emirate’s culture and heritage. By integrating technology with real-life exploration, “Konoz” encourages families to engage in interactive learning, while reducing sitting in front of the screen and strengthening community ties, making it an educational and entertaining experience that combines fun and benefit.
They pointed out that the “Kunoz” application is an adventure that combines learning, exploration and family bonding in one place, as it hosts treasure hunts throughout the city that take families through the heritage and cultural sites of Abu Dhabi and allow them to reveal the stories behind its history, culture and natural beauty.
