The Youth Parties and Politicians Coordination hosted Dr. Sherif Farouk, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, in an expanded symposium on all files and issues related to supply and internal trade.

In his speech, Sherif Farouk, Minister of Supply, praised the coordination role. Youth parties and politicians, explaining that one of the most important files that the ministry is interested in is the monetary support file, and the extent of the ministry’s interest in presenting it to the coordination, the national dialogue, the House of Representatives, and intellectuals. The Minister referred to the Ministry’s programs and initiatives, reviewed its plans aimed at enhancing food security and achieving sustainable development, and provided a detailed explanation about the Ministry’s vision in the food support file (supply, bread), and the Ministry’s directions aimed at restructuring the system Support, and waiting for the start of the national and community dialogue sessions to discuss the proposals put forward for the commodity support file, and the government’s implementation of the recommendations that the national dialogue will conclude.

The Minister also reviewed the efforts made to achieve food security by ensuring A large strategic reserve of basic commodities, noting that the Ministry is working to diversify import sources to avoid any global disturbances that may affect the local market.

The Minister stressed the importance of the internal trade sector file, as it is a major driver of economic growth in the file. He continued: The internal trade infrastructure is considered one of the decisive factors in enhancing efficiency and economic growth, as it includes everything related to service networks, roads, warehouses, wholesale markets, and other commercial models that work to deliver products and services. For the final consumer, it plays an essential role in facilitating the movement of goods and services between the governorates of the Republic. 

In his speech, the Minister of Supply touched on the Ministry’s initiatives aimed at reducing the burdens on citizens, including one-day markets that are organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Local Development. In addition to cooperation initiatives between the Ministry, the National Alliance for Civil Development Action, and the Decent Life Foundation to provide goods at competitive prices in the areas most in need.

Dr. Sherif Farouk spoke about the significant expansion of infrastructure projects. For the internal trade sector, noting that the Ministry is working to establish commercial areas and modern strategic warehouses that keep pace with the highest international standards, which contributes to improving the efficiency of distribution of goods and providing new job opportunities for young people.

He also discussed the details of the project to increase storage capacities for wheat, Which includes the localization of the silo industry in Egypt, which reduces waste and helps achieve food security, which is one of the strategic goals of the Egyptian state.

Within the framework of supporting local markets, the Minister explained the importance of cooperation with the concerned authorities, the most important of which is the General Union of Chambers Trade and Federation of Industries In order to provide goods and increase supply, he stressed that the Ministry pays special attention to strengthening the partnership with the private sector to implement its current and future projects.

The dialogue touched on the Ministry’s efforts to intensify the supervisory role in cooperation with the relevant authorities, in order to develop mechanisms Oversight and ensuring tight control over markets, to ensure the protection of citizens’ rights and the achievement of stability in the Egyptian market.
