The Prince of Poets program concludes the first phase of the 11th season

ABU DHABI, 3rd JANUARY / WAM / The Prince of Poets program, produced by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, concluded the first phase of its eleventh season, with the fifth live episode, which was broadcast yesterday evening, “Thursday,” from Al Raha Beach Theater in Abu Dhabi, in which poets Asma Al Hammadi from the UAE competed. Sora Alloush from the Arab Republic of Egypt, Fares Saleh from Palestine, and Muhammad Ziad Shoudab from Syria.
The session was attended by Dr. Sultan Al Amimi, Acting Executive Director of the Poetry and Heritage Sector at the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, two members of the program’s advisory committee, Dr. Imad Khalaf, and the poet Raad Bandar, and an audience of poets, media figures, writers, intellectuals, and poetry lovers.
The jury, consisting of Dr. Ali bin Tamim, Dr. Wahab Roumieh, and Dr. Muhammad Hajo, decided that the poet Muhammad Ziyad Shoudab qualified by obtaining 47 marks out of 50, and the poet Asma Al-Hammadi by obtaining 42 marks out of 50, while Sari Alloush received 40 marks, and Fares Saleh 40. degree, and the winner of them, by public vote during the next week, will reserve a seat and continue in the second stage of the program.
At the beginning of the episode, it was announced that the poet Imad Ahmed Abu Ahmed from Germany had moved to the next stage after he received 77 out of 100 marks in the public vote during the past week. Accompanying the finalists according to the jury’s decision in the last episode were the poets Othman Al-Hisho Qarabshi from Morocco and Ola Khadaro from Lebanon.
After that, competitions began between the poets participating in the fifth direct episode.
In the section “The Impact of a Poet,” the poets participating in the evening chose a number of poets who had an impact on their poetic experiences.
The fifth live episode also hosted the Emirati artist Mohammed Al Menhali, who gave a performance in which he combined the authenticity of classical poetry with the sweetness of Nabati poetry through the song “You Turn Your Side,” whose lyrics were written by the poet Alaa Janab, who won the title of “Prince of Poets” in the fifth season.
It is noteworthy that the competition mechanism in the eleventh season of the Prince of Poets program includes several stages to reach the Emirate of Poetry, as the first stage, which concluded yesterday, consists of five episodes with the participation of twenty poets, of whom fifteen poets will move to the next stage.
The second stage consists of three episodes, in which five poets compete. In each episode, the jury qualifies one poet directly to the next stage. The committee’s scores in this stage are 50% the same as the previous one, and the public vote percentage is 50%, for which the remaining four poets compete throughout the week, to qualify. In the end, the poet received the highest vote from viewers, in addition to what he received from the jury.
