With a magnitude of 5.2, an earthquake strikes Bushehr Province, southern Iran

Koresh Dehghan, Director General of Crises in Bushehr Province, southern Iran, said that an earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale struck the city of Rez in Jam Province, south of the province.
In a statement to IRNA on Monday evening, Dehqan indicated that this earthquake was recorded at a depth of 20 kilometers from the ground.

Dehghan did not provide further details. Iran is exposed to frequent earthquakes as a result of its occurrence in a collision zone between plates located directly beneath the Earth’s crust.

The deadliest earthquake, a 7.7-magnitude earthquake, occurred in the northwest of the country in 1990, leaving 37,000 dead and 100,000 injured.

Last month, an earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale struck the village of “Sirj” in Kerman Province, southeastern Iran.
The Iranian Seismological Center stated at the time that this earthquake occurred at 6:48 local time, at a depth of 8 kilometers above the Earth’s surface, according to the IRNA agency.
