The UAE achieves an “unprecedented” achievement in air traffic during 2024

The UAE recorded more than one million air movements during 2024, according to what the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority announced.

The authority said, in a statement issued on Monday, that this number constitutes “an unprecedented achievement that strengthens the UAE’s position in the global aviation sector.”

She added that exceeding one million air movements in one year is a living testimony to the continuous efforts made by the General Authority of Civil Aviation and the Sheikh Zayed Air Navigation Centre, to ensure the provision of navigation services at the highest levels, that meet the aspirations of international airlines and enhance the air travel experience.

Abdullah Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Civil Aviation Authority, said that the UAE has adopted innovative national initiatives and strategies to enhance its competitiveness and leadership in the civil aviation and air services sector regionally and globally.

He added that the growth of air traffic in the past two years exceeded 20 percent, which is among the highest in the world, confirming the country’s readiness to accommodate more air traffic in the coming years thanks to the advanced infrastructure, capable human cadres, and modern and pioneering technologies.

For his part, Saif Al Suwaidi, Director General of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, said that the current year recorded an average growth of 10.3 percent compared to 2023, stressing the commitment to continue developing systems and services to ensure that the highest standards of safety and efficiency are maintained.
