Walker asks to leave Manchester City

Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola said after the 8-0 crushing victory over Salford City in the FA Cup on Saturday that captain Kyle Walker has asked to leave the club.

Walker was excluded from coach Guardiola’s squad for the third round match of the Federation Cup, before the Spanish coach said that the right-back had asked to “explore options abroad.”

Guardiola added: “Two days ago, Kyle asked to explore the options available to play abroad and end his career. For this reason, I preferred to involve other players. He asked for that two years ago after we won the treble. Bayern Munich wanted him, but the offer was not good enough.”

Guardiola added: “We would not have achieved all this success during these years without Kyle. It would have been impossible.”

Walker (34 years old) joined Man City from Tottenham in a deal worth about 50 million pounds in 2017.

The English right-back participated in 319 matches with Manchester City and helped the club achieve 17 titles, including six Premier League titles and its first Champions League title.

Walker’s participation in matches decreased this season, as he started only nine matches in the English Premier League.

English media indicated that Saudi Arabia may be Walker’s next destination.
