Today, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Abdullah bin Amer Al-Sawaha, and the Chairman of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), Abdullah bin Sharaf Al-Ghamdi, crowned ten winning teams of the Injaz Hackathon Award to raise productivity in the government and private sectors using artificial intelligence, out of a total of 90 teams that competed to find solutions. Advanced technology aims to raise the readiness and level of work efficiency in these two development sectors.
This came during the ceremony organized by the ten government agencies that supervise organizing the hackathon at the “Garage” headquarters in the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology in the capital, Riyadh, in the presence of the head of the National Data Management Office in “Sdaya” Al-Rabdi bin Fahd Al-Rabadi, and the Governor of the Communications and Information Technology Commission, Muhammad bin Saud Al Tamimi.

In his speech during the ceremony, Al-Ghamdi expressed his happiness with the success achieved by the Injaz Hackathon, and with the volume of interaction that witnessed more than 400 participants representing 90 teams competing with prizes amounting to one and a half million Saudi riyals, during which they competed to develop creative solutions that demonstrate the enormous potential of artificial intelligence in… Improving efficiency and reducing waste in two main tracks: the artificial intelligence track to enhance public sector productivity, which included working to improve government sector services and speed up its operations, and the artificial intelligence track. To enhance the productivity of the private sector, which aims to reduce costs and accelerate achievement in companies.

During his speech, he reviewed many studies that confirm the role of artificial intelligence in raising productivity and improving the work cycle, pointing to the study conducted by the Sloan School of Management at MIT and Stanford University, which showed that customer service employees who use a generative artificial intelligence tool recorded an increase in productivity by 14%. %, while less experienced employees saw an improvement of up to 35%.

He pointed out that supply chain management based on artificial intelligence contributes to reducing logistics costs by 15%, increasing inventory levels by 35%, and improving the level and quality of service by 65%, according to reports from McKinsey. His Excellency said, “One of the leading national examples of employing smart technologies to enhance efficiency and productivity is the ‘Nafth’ application, which we are proud to have developed by the sons and daughters of this nation. It allows individuals to be verified using their biometric features, which has contributed to saving about 260,000 visits to service centers daily.” .

He stressed that “Sdaya” services based on data and artificial intelligence contributed to saving the equivalent of 19 working days per year for an individual, indicating that there is a real opportunity to raise the productivity of more than 17 million people working in the government and private sectors in the Kingdom, through the use of artificial intelligence techniques.

He noted the role of “Sdaya” in harnessing these technologies to raise efficiency and enhance productivity in vital sectors, such as education, health, municipal services, transportation, energy, industry, and justice, citing the judicial field, and in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice, the “Your Voice” application was launched, which relies on artificial intelligence to convert voice. In different Arabic dialects to text, with a capacity of up to 10,000 listening sessions per day, which contributes to reducing the time taken to document sessions, raises the quality of services provided, reduces human errors, and enhances efficiency and productivity. employees, achieving tangible resource savings.

He touched on the health field in which artificial intelligence has played a major role in raising the efficiency of the sector, as “Sedaya” and the Ministry of Health launched a program for early detection of breast cancer using artificial intelligence algorithms, which leads to reducing false diagnoses and accelerating examination processes by 85%, allowing doctors to focus on Providing better health care and covering a larger segment of patients.
During his speech, he highlighted the launch of the “Aynay” product in partnership with King Khalid Eye Specialist Hospital, which includes artificial intelligence algorithms to detect diabetic retinopathy, the primary cause of vision loss in the Kingdom, with a sensitivity rate of up to 96%, indicating that “Aynay” is currently used in 14 health centers. In the Kingdom, 12,000 cases were examined, including 1,400 cases that threatened blindness.

Following this, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology and the Chairman of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority “Sadaya” crowned the winning teams: the “Adeed” team, the “NAXAI” team, the “Nazer” team, the “Saei” team, the “Cognitive Learning Archive” team, and the “OBS” team. The “TerraLoop” team, the “Fatin” team, the “Emtithal” team, and the “Hams” team, where each of the winning teams received financial prizes totaling one and a half million riyals.
The success achieved by the “Injaz Hackathon” reflects the result of the integration between ten government agencies, namely: the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), the Digital Government Authority, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the Ministry of Economy and Planning, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, the Ministry of Finance, and the Broadcasting Corporation.
