There is no need for refugees to return quickly from Germany

The Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Syrian transitional government, Asaad Al-Shaibani, stated that there is no need for the Syrian refugees to return from Germany quickly.

Al-Shaibani told the German News Agency (DPA) in Damascus, “They are safe there.” He is scheduled to meet with German Development Minister Svenja Schulze in the Syrian capital.

Al-Shaibani added that the refugees received by Germany are better off than many Syrian refugees and displaced people in other regions of the world.

The majority of Syrian citizens living in Germany, numbering about 975,000, came to the country as refugees, most of them during the bloody civil war that lasted more than a decade.

German Interior Minister Nancy Weiser proposed allowing Syrians in Germany to make only one trip to their homeland without this affecting their refugee status in Germany, to learn about the conditions there.

A ministry spokesman said that instructions for submitting an application to allow these flights are under preparation.
