We will do with Iran like Venezuela and they will give us everything we want

US President Donald Trump said, in an interview with Fox News on Sunday, that the United States will deal with Iran as it dealt with Venezuela, noting that “the Iranians have not left the negotiating table, and I expect that they will return and give us everything we want.” He also indicated that the talks with the Iranians were “very friendly.”

Trump explained that what he did with Venezuela would be very similar to what he would do with Iran, but “at a higher level,” referring to the lightning attack that resulted in the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro last January, his placement in a prison in New York, and Vice President Delcy Rodriguez assuming power. Trump said at the time that Venezuela would buy American products with the money it would receive in exchange for selling its oil.

Trump added: “The Iranians did not leave the negotiating table, and I expect that they will return and give us everything we want,” noting that the talks with the Iranians were “very friendly.”

Trump added: “I told my team, I want everything. I don’t want 90% and I don’t want 95%. I told them I want everything.”

Trump added from his private golf course near Miami, Florida: “I think they will sit at the negotiating table, because no one can be so stupid as to say we want nuclear weapons, and they don’t have any trump cards.”

The US President renewed Iran’s threat to destroy energy infrastructure unless an agreement was reached, and continued: “The leaflet I put out regarding the erasure of Iranian civilization is what pushed the Iranians to the negotiating table.”

He stated: “The Iranians want to possess nuclear weapons, but we will not allow them to do so.”

Trump said: “We will not allow Iran to make money from selling oil to whomever it wants, and it will be “all or nothing,” and that is how things will go.”

He pointed out that Washington will bring conventional minesweepers, pointing out that many countries will help in the issue of the Strait of Hormuz, expecting Britain and other countries to send minesweepers as well, stressing that NATO wants to help regarding the Strait of Hormuz.

He also stated that Iran did not intercept the two American ships that crossed the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday, continuing: “We will close the Strait of Hormuz, and that will take some time.” He directed his speech to the Iranians, saying: “It is better for the Iranians to start opening the Strait of Hormuz quickly, as they are violating all laws.”

He pointed out that “oil and gas prices will eventually decline when this matter ends.”
